Running Club

The Elm Street School Running Club is offered for all students K -5 meeting after school 1 day per week. The Running Club members will learn the basics of running, including warm up, stretching, cool down, and having fun with relay races. This is a four-week program and will take place from 2:55-3:55 pm, meeting in the gymnasium.

What to Wear
Running Club will be held rain or shine and we will run outdoors as much as possible. Please dress your child in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (shorts or running pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or lighweight jacket). Running Club t-shirts will be handed out the first day. Sneakers are required. Students with inappropriate footwear will not be allowed to participate for safety reasons. If possible, please have your child wear their workout clothes to school as we have limited time to change.

Water will be provided for all participants.

Teacher Note
Please send in a note with your child every week.

Extended Day
Your child must report to Extended Day first. A running club volunteer will escort them to and from Extended Day.

Pickup Procedure
Please follow the Pick-Up Procedure as directed in the Elm Street School Handbook. Proceed into the parking lot and drive around and park in front of the main entrance. A volunteer will come to your vehicle, take the name of your child, and escort them to your vehicle.

The number of students that we can accommodate in the running club will be limited to 50 students and dependent upon adequate volunteer staffing.

There will be a charge of $25/student for enrollment in the Elm Street School Running Club. This fee will cover all 4 sessions of running club and will provide each enrolled student with a T-shirt and water.

If your child has participated in Run Club in the past and already has a t-shirt, we ask that they continue to wear that shirt. If you do not have a shirt, please include your child's shirt size in the comments section along with their name, grade and teachers name.

Volunteers We need your help!
In order to have a successful run club, we are relying on parent volunteers. Along with the club leaders, Mark Dunn and Phil Doucette, we are actively seeking more volunteers. It's essential we have more than enough volunteers in order to make this a fun, safe event for all of our children. Please consider helping out if you have the time.
